Evelyn Arleen (Atwood) Weidenbach, age 91, passed away in her sleep on Saturday, September 26, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation with her family present, will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, October 2, 2020 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls, SD. Evelyn was born on January 22, 1929 in Sioux Falls, SD to Bert Sr. and Bertha (Holthe) Atwood. She was raised and received her education in Sioux Falls. Evelyn was united in marriage with Wallace “Wally” David Weidenbach on April 1, 1945 in Parker, SD. The couple moved to Burbank, CA and while there gave birth to a son, Roger. Following the birth of Roger, the family made their home back in Sioux Falls, SD. Evelyn then gave birth to a baby girl, Yvonne Jean, who lived only a few short days.

Evelyn was a hard working woman as an employee at John Morrell and Company in Sioux Falls in the sliced bacon department for over 30-years and then worked in the Gardening section at Target in her later years, as well as being a greeter for eleven years.

Evelyn was a woman of great faith and was dedicated to East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. A church she spent a majority of her life going to and volunteering at. She loved gardening, playing cards, having coffee while visiting with friends and family, cooking for her family, and definitely laughing. Evelyn was a generous woman with a kind heart. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.

Grateful for having shared her life are one son, Roger Weidenbach and his wife, Joyce, Omaha, NE; four grandchildren, Brian Weidenbach and his wife, Laurie, Sioux Falls, SD, Dave Weidenbach and his wife, Roxy, Sioux Falls, SD, Jeff Weidenbach and his wife, Jill Marie, Omaha, NE, Jill Ellen Weidenbach, Omaha, NE; four great-grandchildren, Allison Schmitt and her husband, Brennen Brookings, SD, Mason Weidenbach, Sioux Falls, SD, Emma Weidenbach, Omaha, NE and Cooper Weidenbach, Omaha, NE; one brother, John Atwood and his wife, Pat, Des Moines, IA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Bert Sr. & Bertha Atwood; her husband, Wallace “Wally” Weidenbach; infant daughter, Yvonne Jean Weidenbach; siblings: Ray Atwood, Bert Atwood Jr., Harley Atwood, Lavada Baker, Palmer Atwood and Ida Tidwell and Mearl Atwood.
