Born a son of Samuel Major and Francis Marion Van DeVander Givler. He married first, Madge Burley in the Zion German Lutheran Church on 13 Dec 1892 in Harrisburg PA. Sadly the couple were residing in Bellwood PA a short term when Madge died in 1898. Secondly, he wed Anna Blumenschein on 27 Apr 1900 in Chicago IL. Anna survived him. There are no records found of any children.

Interred in North Hill Cemetery 21 Nov 1947
