MAGNOLIA, Ky. - Robert Lee Bell, 70, died Monday, April 3, 2006, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky. He was a retired truck driver and farmer. He was a member of Three Forks Bacon Creek Baptist Church in Hammonsville, Ky., where he was active in the choir. He was an evangelist and preached several revivals and filled several pulpits in the area. He was active in the prison ministry at Marion County Detention Center and LaRue County Jail. He was an active soloist and quartet singer, and led the Sunrise Manor Rhythm Band at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville, Ky.
Services were Thursday, April 6, at Three Forks Bacon Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Lonnie Sheets officiating. Burial was in the Hammonsville* Cemetery. Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home of Magnolia, Ky., was in charge of the arrangements. (*****Hammondsville)
Survivors include his wife, Martha Priddy Bell; three daughters, Marie Lea of Foley, Ala., and Patricia Ann Ladd and husband, Phillip, and Deborah Leigh Douglas and husband, Ronnie, all of Monticello; one son, James L. Bell and wife, Donna, of Louisville; one stepdaughter, Madonna Gonzalez and husband, Rick, of Indiana; one sister, Shirley Williams and husband, Henry, of Tupelo; three brothers, Lonnie Estes Bell and wife, Jean, of Tupelo, Larry Bell and wife, Jane, of Monticello, and Johnny Lamar Bell of Oxford; 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis W. and Annie Sue Chism Bell, and a nephew, Craig Bell.
