Harley H. Powell

PIKETON — Harvey H. Powell, 73, Route 1, Otway, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday at his home following an extended illness.

Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Otway Church of Christ, Route 348, with Larry Williams and Elmer Sparrow officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, and will be under direction of the Howe Co. Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the Powell residence today and Tuesday until the funeral hour.

Powell was born June 20, 1898, in Adams County to Andrew and Margaret Riley Powell. On Oct. 19, 1918, he married the former Myrtle Mossbarger, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, George, Fairborn, and Leo, Route 5, Lucasville; five daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Bolton, Medway, Mrs. Jean Lawson and Mrs. Margaret Hufford, both of Fairborn, Mrs. Alice Hoffer. Route 1, Otway, and Miss Virginia Powell, at home; 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leo, Wilmington; one sister, Mrs. Ella Rogers, Xenia; one half brother, Delbert Powell, Route 2, Piketon; and one half sister. Mrs. Jessie Mustard, Chillicothe.

Powell was a retired timber worker and was a minister for 43 years at the Church of it Christ.
