Esther, 56, of rural Leslie, died at her home after a lingering illness of cancer. She was born to Benjamin Alonzo & Anna Elizabeth Near Marshall.
She was a gradate of Mason High School in 1932.
She married Robert Ralph Howery on Oct. 17, 1936. She was a deputy clerk at the register of deeds office in Mason for a number of years. She had also worked at the Ingham Co. Library.
She loved to garden, especially her flowers. She had hundreds of glads, and many mums.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; a son, Roger of Leslie; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Smith of Wheeler, Mi. and 3 grandchildren, Steven Lynn Smith, Kimberly and Mechelle Howery.
Services were Thursday in the Jewett Funeral Home, Mason.
