Thomas Jefferson Clark was born on 29 January 1866. He was the fourth of fourteen children born to James Isaac and Martha Frances Reams Clark.

Thomas was 23 years old when he married his first wife, Rose in 1889. She died in 1891 the day after giving birth to their first child. The baby daughter, Lucy, died 3 months later.

On 20 May 1899, when Tom was 33 years old, he married Cora Eshleman, who was 24. They were married in Oronogo, Jasper County, Missouri. Together they had 4 children:

James Henry (1900-1956)
Margarett Pearl (1901-1966)
Joseph Victor (1904-1962)
Thomas Jefferson (1914-1962)

They lived and farmed mostly in Taney County. They also lived for a while in Elm City, Kansas where Grandpa Tom worked in a Zinc Mine.

Grandfather Thomas died of a heart attack on the evening of 9 October 1940. He and his oldest son, Jim, had been busy in the fields shocking corn all that day. He was 74 years old.

From the stories told, he was a very reserved, yet kind-hearted man, often helping those who were in need.
