H. Dean Armes was born in Gibtown, Texas on February 3, 1922 and passed away on September 9, 2020. Dean was a long time resident of Fort Worth and Everman, Texas. He was 98 years old.

Dean was proceeded in death by his father, M. C. Armes; his mother, Hattie Harris; his brother, Don Armes; and his wife of 60 years, Evalena Armes.

He is survived by his son, Ronnie Armes and his wife, Mary Ann Armes; two granddaughters, Angelyn Horrell and Tiffany Wilson and her husband, Ryan Wilson; three great-granddaughters, Morgan Horrell, Abby Wilson and Tessa Wilson: and his nephew, Don L. Armes and his wife, Dede Armes of Faxon, Oklahoma.

Dean graduated from Strawn High School where he was a star athlete in both football and track. After attending the University of North Texas, he enlisted in the Navy in 1943. He was a Seaman First Class and upon completion of Armed Guard Gunnery School served on the SS Charleston.

After leaving the Navy, Dean became a bus driver for Continental Trailways Bus Company. It was on a trip between Vernon and Wichita Falls where he met his wife of 60 years, Evalena. Dean and Evalena moved to Forth Worth where he worked for Convair/General Dynamics for 15 years. He then worked for Tandy Corporation as a Plant Manager for more than 15 years.

After retiring, Dean was very active in his community serving as the Mayor of Everman and President of the Everman Area Chamber of Commerce. He was also very active in his church Grace Temple AG and later at Christ Church, both in Fort Worth.

Dean loved his family and was very involved with his son, Ronnie's school and athletic activities. Dean, Papa as he was known by to his family and friends, was also very supportive of his granddaughter's in their school and activities. As his health declined, he was not able to be as involved with his great-granddaughters but loved to hear about all the things they were doing.

As a result of all the risks involved with social gatherings at this time, there will not be a funeral or a scheduled family visitation time. The family will have a private family memorial service to celebrate their lives with their Papa.
