Robert Paul Aldous Passed away on August 30, 2020, after a long battle against cancer. He was born on October 22, 1937 in Indian Lake, NY, a son of William (Bing) Aldous and Cleo Grant Aldous. At about the age of 3, the family moved to Raquette Lake, where Paul spent the remainder of his life. He attended Indian Lake School. He was very proud of his Army service, from 1961 to 1963, in Germany. He worked for a while with NYSDOT, and Town of Long Lake Highway Dept. before starting a 35 year career with the NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation. His final job with them was his dream, almost 20 years working in the Moose River Plains. He loved the peace and solitude, and took great pride in his work there.

On March 22, 1982 he married Elaine (Penny) Spearance, a loving Marriage of 38 years.

Paul was a member of the Raquette Lake Fish and Game Club, and the Raquette Lake Fire Dept. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and just taking his barge for a ride around his beloved Raquette Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, a sister Maxine Broberg, of Burkeburnett, TX; a sister in-law, Cathy Aldous, of Indian Lake; his Mother in-law, Alice Spearance, of Adams, NY; two brothers in-law; and several nieces, nephews, great nephews and nieces, and cousins.

Paul was predeceased by both parents, his brother George, and his father in-law, Larry.

There will be no calling hours, in keeping with social guidelines of the present time. There will be a graveside service on Monday, September 14, at 1:00, in Riverview Cemetery, Old Forge.
