INDIAN LAKE -- George W. Aldous, age 65, of Jerry Savarie Road, died peacefully, Thursday morning, April 5, 2007, at his home.

Born on April 3, 1942, in Raquette Lake, he was the son of the late William and Cleo (Grant) Aldous.

George served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He had earned the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

He married Cathy L. Farrell on Oct. 28, 1979, at the First Baptist Church of Indian Lake.

George was employed at the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake for 22 years. For the past five years, George had been working at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Indian Lake.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, hunting, and fishing.

He was a life member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Cathy Aldous; two daughters, Emma Terry and her husband, James, of Morrisonville, Lisa Aldous who is stationed aboard the U.S.S. Sullivans; one sister, Maxine Broberg of Burkburnett, Texas; one brother, Robert "Paul" Aldous and his wife, Elaine, of Raquette Lake; his mother-in-law, Mary Farrell of Indian Lake; two sisters-in-law, Linda Mitchell and her husband, Peter, of Indian Lake, Patti Farrell of North Creek; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home, 35 West Main St., Indian Lake, where members of the Indian Lake Volunteer Ambulance Corps will gather to pay their respects at 6:30 p.m. and members of the Parker-Benton American Legion Post No. 1392, Indian Lake will conduct service at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. E. Paul Miller, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Indian Lake, officiating.

Burial will be in Benton Cemetery, Indian Lake.
