Melvin L. Bock of Jackson, Michigan, died on December 28th, 2010. Melvin was born in Cadillac, Michigan on July 19th, 1922, the son of Max and Hattie Bock. He proudly served his country in World War II as an Aviation Machinists Mate in the United States Navy. On November 22, 1946, he married the love of his life; Jayne A. Griffin who preceded him in death on October 2nd, 2010. Melvin attended Michigan Tech College under the G.I. bill and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. He went on to work as a mechanical engineer at Consumers Power Company for over 30 years. Melvin lived the values of The Greatest Generation. He was deeply devoted to God and to his family. The bar he set will forever serve as a legacy for his children and grandchildren. Although he will be deeply missed, we rejoice in the fact that he is now in heaven and can dance for eternity with his beloved Jayne. Melvin is survived by children Kevin (Stacey) Bock of Bryan Ohio and Jamel Anderson of Traverse City; grandchildren Melissa (Chris) Henson, Justin (Lisa) Bock, Megan Bock, Brandon Bock, Tyler Bock, Autumn Anderson, Ashton Anderson, and Bria Anderson, and many other cherished family members and friends. A service to celebrate Melvin's life will be held at 12:00 on Sunday, January 2nd, 2011 in the Grande room at Vista Grande Villa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jackson Interfaith Shelter (414 S. Blackstone St, Jackson MI 49201) or any charity of choice.
