Max Bock was born was born in Gyorkony, Tolna, Hungary in 1887. At that time it was part of the Austro/Hungarian Empire. He immigrated to America in 1903 and eventually located in Akron, OH. Max married Hattie Jordan in February 1911 and they had five sons: Ferdinand(1913-1987), Mathias(1916-2001),Lawrence(1918-1982), Marvin(1922-1922) and Melvin(1922-2010). In Akron, Max worked at the Quaker Oats Co. The family moved to Wexford County Mi. by 1920 and Max and Hattie spent their remaining years there.
