Molinda Edline Cox, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020. She was a lifelong friend of Jesus Christ.
Molinda was born on Dec. 20, 1925, in Keota, OK. She married the love of her life, Hollis Roy Cox, on Jan. 1, 1942. They were married for 46 years and had three children, Hollis Utah Cox, Sr., Vernon Powell Cox, and Linda Gay Coleman. Her husband's career in the USAF led them to live abroad and in several U.S. states. She valued God and family above all and instilled these values in her children and grandchildren through her model as loving wife and mother.
Molinda is survived by grandchildren Lindy Crace, Christi Brazee, Chris Cox, and Lauren Cox; thirteen great-grandchildren; nieces Carol Fitton, Perralyne Reed, Paula Sanders, Cheryl Smith, and Carol Werner; nephews Christopher Powell, Greg Powell, Timothy Powell, and Travis Powell; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Florence Alzady Cantrell and Jesse James Powell; husband, Hollis; three children; sisters Jessie Lovett, Iris Hayes, and Janice Porter; brothers James "Gentry" Powell and Clifford Powell; and grandchild Hollis Utah Cox, Jr.
Her family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to Molinda's caretakers in Oklahoma and Knoxville, TN, who served as the hands of God in blessing her life, especially her primary care doctor, Denise LeBlanc, and Avalon Hospice nurses Christina and Laura.
Services to celebrate Molinda's life will be held Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Sooner Baptist Church, Midwest City. Her burial will take place at 2 p.m. at Ft. Gibson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the VFW or Sooner Baptist Church.
