Born Tuesday, October 22, 1935 in Cooter, Missouri, he was the son of the late James Homer Blessing and the late Lillie Lee Beckett Blessing. He was a former employee of HECO manufacturing, co-owner of Blessings Auto and B & W Auto Parts. Mr. Blessing was a member of Palestine Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Many will remember Mr. Blessing for his love of the game of softball.
Graveside services for Mr. Blessing will be 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Poplar Grove Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Rev. James Combs. Friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of sixty-four years, Cherrye Lou Combs Blessing of Newbern, Tennessee; three daughters, Selina Lou Dowden (Phil) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Penny Michelle Bessent (Mark) of Newbern, Tennessee and Delia Jill Blessing (Vernon Volner) of Newbern, Tennessee; one brother, Clyde "Jink" Blessing, of Florida; one sister, Johnnie Coffey of Russell Springs, Kentucky; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Mason Blessing; one daughter, Joni Marie Enochs; five brothers, Alvin Blessing, Edward Blessing, Coy Blessing, Howard "Bo" Blessing and Tom Blessing and three sisters, Myrna Ferguson, Alta Johnson and Ludie Thomas.
Honoring Mr. Blessing as pallbearers will be Ronald "PeeWee" Parnell, Roy McClain, Chad Enochs, Vernon Volner, Mark Bessent and Josh Enochs. Honorary pallbearers will be George Rice, Jerry Rasberry and Gene Autry.
