The last public record found for Bartley is the 1850 Bradley Co, TN census (surname enumerated "CarSon" but transcribed "CarLon") with father Joseph, 45yo; mother Elizabeth (Samples) Carson, 48yo; and 4 siblings: William, 20yo; Dave, 18yo; Louisa, 16yo; and Elizabeth, 6yo. Bartley is 14yo and all were born in TN. Also in the household is uncle Moses Samples, 49yo who is "idiotic". In about 1856 Bartley married Louisa Robbins (1830-~1890) and they had two sons in Bradley Co, TN, "M." Carson (no further record after 1860) and Joseph Campbell Carson. In 1860, this family had moved to Parker Co, TX where they were enumerated on Aug. 20, 1860 in the Copper Hill Post Office area (active 1857-1867, today Authon, TX), with (widowed) mother L. Carson, 30yo; son M. Carson, 4yo; and son J. Carson, 2yo. They are next door to Louisa's parents: Samuel Robbins, 60yo, VA; and Lavany (Johnson) Robbins, 60yo, TN. The birth and death dates for Bartley are from a Carson family member (now deceased) who also knew he married a woman with the first name of Louisa. It is presumed that Bartley died while still in Bradley Co, TN and is buried in an unmarked grave in the Hayes Shed Cemetery where his father is buried. On Joseph Campbell Carson's 1931 TX Death Certificate, his son and witness Clarence Vanlandingham Carson, names Bartley Carson as J.C.s father. One of J.C.s grandson's middle name is Barkley.
