Funeral services for Peggy Ables Brooks, 66, of Granbury will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday, May 24, 2005) at the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Granbury Cemetery. It is requested memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
Mrs. Brooks died Sunday May 22, 2005 in Granbury. She was born June 18, 1938 in Hood County to Haskel and Maida Aston Ables. She married John Gordon Brooks January 22, 1971 in Fort Worth. A member of First Baptist Church and Women on a Mission, Mrs. Brooks was a sales secretary for Oil State Rubber Company for 15 years, bookkeeper for Granbury Opera House and the Nutt House Dining Room and office manager for radiologist Jerry Lancaster.
Her parents, husband and a sister, Donna Ann Ables, preceded her in death.
Survivors are daughters, Jennifer Harris of Granbury, Barbara Ann Courtney of Fort Worth, Peggy Lynn Miller of Burleson, Debbie Lou Hollingsworth and Darlene Jarene Key, both of Fort Worth; sons, Jerry Gordon Brooks and Wendell Brooks, both of Fort Worth; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine Jenson of Cranfills Gap and Alletta Durant of Valley Center, California; brother, Elton Ables of Granbury; and an aunt, Morine Lancaster of Granbury.
Wiley Funeral Home of Granbury is in charge of arrangements.
