Born in Winfield, Alabama she was a daughter of the late Reverend Wilburn Beasley and Verna "Molly" Lynn Beasley. She was Director of Clarendon County DSS, having worked for 30 plus years, a case worker for Special Disabilities of Clarendon and surrounding counties, a member of The Golden Age Sunday School Class, and was a member of Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church. "Ma" Jan loved her Lord, her family, the outdoors, flowers, her fresh cut yard, reading, and the little get away trips with family to the beach and the mountains, also she cared for others before herself, and always had a special place in her heart for the ones with disability needs.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Tracy McElveen.
