Lorene (Stockton) Parkison Shupe, 87, of Arkansas City, died Saturday (September 8, 2007) at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (September 12, 2007) at the First Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park of Ponca City. Pastor James Newman will officiate. The family will greet friends at the funeral home Tuesday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Lorene was born September 5, 1920, in Butler, Oklahoma, to Charles Major Stockton and Pamela "Pamie" (Lewis) Stockton. She was reared and educated in Newkirk, graduating from Newkirk High School in 1938. She married Leonard R. Parkison on August 24, 1941, in Colgate, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and followed her husband to many different military bases across the country. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1988. Lorene later married Ralph O. Shupe on August 2, 1991 in Arkansas City.

She was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church. Her family was very important to her as well as her friends. She also had a genuine love of God which she passed on to her children and shared with others.

Survivors include her husband Ralph of the home; four children Karen and her husband Charles "Ross" Kail of Newkirk, Leonard R. "Bob" Parkison, Jr and his wife Carlita of Oklahoma City, Candice and her husband John Sanborn of Ponca City, Elizabeth "Liz" and her husband Jim Ramsey of Wellington; three brothers Ben and his wife Betty Stockton of Ponca City, Marvin and his wife Charlotte Stockton of Phoenix, Arizona, Ron and his wife Evelyn Stockton of Spring, Texas; one sister Nadine and her husband Carl Southard of Austin, Texas; two sisters in law Martha and Josephine Stockton; nine grandchildren Matt Kail, Rob Stockton, Lori Jones, Dalles Parkison, Jamie Lee, Ryan Rush, Raina Rush, Heather, Jennifer and William Ramsey; sixteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and very special care givers June Watson, Anna Munson and Ann Russell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Leonard, four brothers Jim, Calvin, Homer and Oscar Stockton, and a sister Lucille Shupe.

A memorial has been established with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are being made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
