Died Tuesday, May 22, 1984 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center [in Baton Rouge]. He was 72, a native of Franklin County, Miss. and a resident of Liberty, Miss. Visiting at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Visiting at New Zion Baptist Church, Amite County, Miss., 1 p.m. to religious services at 2 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Basil Wicker and the Rev. Roy Hopkins. Burial in Mount Zion Cemetery, Franklin County. Survived by wife, Lena Bell Bowlin, Liberty, 2 sons Kelly H. Bowlin, Baker, LA and the Rev. Gary Bowlin, Brandon, MS; a daughter, Rodalene Deer, Baker, LA; 3 brothers, Leonard Bowlin, Franklin County, Loy Bowlin, McComb, and C. W. [Charles Wilson] Bowlin, Liberty; 2 sisters, Georgia Telano, Rayville, and Mary Aline Smith, Picayune, MS; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, including Ruby Jean Smith, Summit, MS, and Bobby Seale, Baton Rouge, who he reared. Preceded in death by parents, William Lee Bowlin, Sr. and Rhoda Catherine Case Bowlin.
