Darlene O. Sherek, 64, of Riverton, WY died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Riverton Memorial Hospital.
Darlene Olivia Rustan was born December 30, 1947 to Vernon and Stella (Bjerke) Rustan in Grafton, North Dakota. Darlene grew up and graduated High School in Edinburg, North Dakota where she helped her family farm. Following graduation she moved to Grafton where she worked for North Western Bell Telephone Company.
On June 23, 1967 she married Wendell F. Sherek at the St. John's Catholic Church in Grafton, ND. She worked in the local drug store in Oaks, ND, and helped her husband working in the Anthony's Clothing Stores in Ellendale and Oaks, ND. They moved from Oaks, ND to Douglas, WY in June of 1987, moved to Lander, WY in May of 1988 and to Riverton, WY in 1991. Darlene and her husband enjoyed attending Trinity Lutheran Church where they were members. Darlene enjoyed crafts, being outdoors, traveling, and earlier in life when her health allowed she enjoyed doing yard work.
She is survived by her husband Wendell of 45 years; four sisters, LaVonne (Syl) Narlock of Warren, MN, Sandi Samuelson of Park River, ND, Lynda (Roger) Raumin of Grafton, ND; Judy (Tony) Oswoski of Minto, ND; two brothers-in-law, Bob (Nancy) Sherek of Chula Vista, CA and Roger Sherek of Grafton, ND; sister-in-law, Pat (Darryl) Bellurd of Winlock, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Inurnment will be at a later date at the Odalen Lutheran Cemetery in the family plot near Edinburg, ND.
