The sad news of the death of Mrs. Ed Morton was received in Ellis Sunday. She was at the hospital at Hays where she had undergone an operation. … interment [sic] made in Mount Hope Cemetery Wednesday afternoon.
Sarah Jane Kline was born in Ohio Aug. 26, 1855. When a child she came with her parents to Jerseyville, Ill. and later moved to Morrisonville, Ill. and here she grew to womanhood. On July 23, 1884, she was united in marriage to Edwin Morton. To this union five children were born. One of these, Sadie Ethel, died at the age of 5. Lewis [sic] Edwin is married and lives at Ogallah (Kan.). Charles Clarence is married and lives near his parents. Margaret Elizabeth and Nettie Irene are at home.
At the age of 18 she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Shiloh, Ill. With her husband and family she moved from Morrisonville, Ill. in March 1890, and settled near Ellis (Kan.).
She leaves besides her children already mentioned, her husband, seven grandchildren, one brother John Kline of Virden, Ill., one sister Mrs. Hector Redman, of Harvel, Ill., and a host of friends to mourn their loss.
