A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport where he was a member. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Long Grove, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Due to Covid-19 concerns, face masks will be required, and social distancing encouraged for all who wish to attend the mass.
Don was born in Wilton, Iowa on January 25, 1933, the son of Leonard and Florence (Springmeier) Angerer. On September 17, 1960, he was united in marriage to Dolores T. O’Connor in Clinton, Iowa.
He was employed at the Alcoa Company, Davenport Works, retiring in 1993 after many years of faithful service. Following retirement, he worked for McGinnis-Chambers Funeral home for 27 years as a funeral assistant and driver.
Don was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and in his spare time, enjoyed bowling, playing golf and playing cards.
“Grandpa Don” was cherished by his family and the children that Don and Dolores cared for over the years.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dolores; his children, Sharon (Jeff) Hoebelheinrich of Newton, Iowa, David (Cindy) Angerer of Holland, Michigan and Kathleen (Eric) McMurry of Richardson, Texas; his grandchildren, Adam (Katie), Matthew, Emily (Travis), Stephanie, Erik, Alex, Keegan, Jarod and Jordan; and his brother, Warren Angerer of Wheatland, Iowa.
Don was preceded in death by his sisters, Cecilia, Gertrude, Vivian, Ida and Ruth; and his brothers, Joe, Vince, John and Jerome.
