Florida "Flora" Hopkins (1858-ante1887) married in 1876, Mayor of Austin, Francis Marion Maddox (1851-1925), son of Nicholas (1800-80) and Sarah Nix Maddox (1821-63), of Austin, Tx. Their daughter, Elizabeth Maddox (1875-1933), married Chester Ruffner (1865-1950) and later moved to Detroit. Their children were Chester Patton (1902-57), and Nancy E. Ruffner (c1910-) who lived in Austin and Warren, Mi. The latter married Harold B. Gurney (1902-56), and their daughter, Mary Nora Gurney (1934-2014), married Walter L. Whittington (1932-2009) and had children. Chester Patton Ruffner (1902-57) married Marian (c1916-) and lived in Gadston, Al. and LaFayette, La.

Florida Hopkins' mother was Mary Hynes DuVal (1817-1911), third daughter of Gov. William Pope (1784-1854) and Nancy Hynes DuVal (1786-1841), who was born in Bardstown, Ky. She married (1) in 1838, Dr. Joseph Robinson, from England, and their daughter was Ellen Stanley Robinson (1841-75). She married (2) c1847, newspaper publisher Samuel Matthew Hopkins (1808-83), son of Freeman (1776-1832) and Phebe Davis Hopkins (1781-1846), of New York City. He was author of Marianna and Her Wrongs. They moved to Austin, Tx. where he was U.S. district court clerk, 1857-61, 1866-83. Their six children were Nancy Duval (1849-1916), Frank (1850-ante1900), William (1854-ante1900), Matthew, Jr. (1857-61), Florida (1858-ante1887), and Samuel Matthew Hopkins, Jr. (1863-91).

Ellen Stanley Robinson (1841-75) last lived in Austin, Tx. She married in 1864, Colonel Benjamin Allston (1833-1900)(West Point 1853), eldest son of Governor Robert Francis Withers (1801-64)(West Point 1821) and Adele Petigru Allston (1810-96), of South Carolina. He served in the Civil War in the 15th Virginia Cavalry and Provisional Army (CSA) and was assistant inspector general on the staff of Gen. Kirby Smith. He was later ordained an Episcopal minister and was rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, Winnsboro, S.C. Their five children were Mary Duval (1866-), Adele, Louisa D., Charlotte (1872-1935), and Robert Francis Withers Allston II (1873-1908).

Nancy "Nannie, Nina" Duval Hopkins (1849-1916) lived in Ft. Worth. She married Wilson Gregg (1855-99), son of Bishop Alexander (1819-93) and Charlotte Wilson Kollock Gregg (1822-80), of Texas. Their daughter, Charlotte Wilson Gregg (1883-1962), a music teacher, lived in Port Arthur, Tx. She married in 1916, Harold March Hoe (1884-1965), an engineer for Gulf Refining Co.

Samuel Matthew Hopkins, Jr. (1863-91) lived in Austin and succeeded his father as U.S. district court clerk, 1884-87. He married in 1885, Nannie Overton James (1862-1931), daughter of banker Edmund Garland (1823-98) and Frances Tanner Overton James (1834-90), of Petersburg, Va. Their sons were Samuel Matthew, III (1886), and Garland James Hopkins (1887-1949).
