Lowell Arthur Ingram
Born on May 24, 1936 in Denver, CO, Lowell Ingram passed away on June 4, 2011 in his home in Everett, WA, at age 75. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Janet Ingram, and his children, Rick Arthur Ingram, Snoqualmie, WA and Andrea Lynn Ingram, Seattle. He is also survived by brothers: Rev. Leslie Francis Ingram, Jr., Houston, TX; Robert Lawrence Ingram, Charleston, SC; Dr. Lloyd Henry Ingram, Charleston, SC.
Lowell earned a B.A. at Seattle Pacific University, and a Master's in Education at the University of Washington. He worked for the Seattle Public Schools as a teacher/counselor, where he received a Golden Acorn award as the outstanding teacher of the year. He served at the University of Washington for 17 years as a counselor/advisor and a leader in multicultural workshops and seminars internationally. Lowell was a leader of an Operation Crossroads Africa (OCA) group in 1967 where university students built a three room handmade brick schoolhouse in Ootsi, Botswana. He was a leader of a businessmen research group in Japan that was sponsored by the Lilly Foundation. For years, Lowell was a family/marriage counselor, and an alcohol/drug counselor. He served on many boards of directors, and when he retired from the UW, he became a property manager for a large condominium association for 23 years.
Throughout his life, Lowell loved to tell stories and had a wonderful sense of humor. He developed a counseling tool that was used by counselors and psychologists. He loved trains and vacationed by train whenever he could. Lowell was loved and cherished by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Memorial Service for Lowell will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 1 pm at Westgate Chapel, 22901 Edmonds, Way, Edmonds, WA 98020, phone: 425-775-2776.
