Carl Phillip "C.P." Whiteley of Miami, OK passed from this life Sunday, August 9, 2020 at his home. He was 92.
C.P. was born January 8, 1928 in Rockdale, TX to Abner and Mary (Chamlers) Whiteley.
He had lived in Miami since 1971 moving from Oklahoma City.
C.P. served in the U.S. Air Force and was an Air Traffic Controller for the U.S. Air Force for 20 years also serving as air traffic controller for President Lyndon B. Johnson.
He then worked the Federal Reserve Bank Oklahoma City for 10 years.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Miami, OK where he was a Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the American Legion Post 147 of Miami, OK.
C.P. was preceded in death by his first wife Juanita Whiteley in 2010, his son Don Whiteley, a step-son Jack Lankford and 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
Survivors include his wife Beatrice "Bea" (Stanley) Whiteley of the home, 2 daughters Vickie West and husband Jack of Atlanta, GA and Teressa Chaney and husband Rex of Phoenix, AZ , 2 step–sons Darrell Coppedge and wife Barbara of Oklahoma City, OK and Dean Coppedge and wife Brenda of Claremore, OK, 3 step–daughters Glenda Teal and husband Don of Miami, OK, Linda Gagnon of Corona, CA and Marsha Kelly of Tucson, AZ, 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Miami, OK. Rev. Mark Nichols and Rev. Charlie Keim will officiate.
Interment will be in Council House Cemetery, N.E. of Grove, OK.
Matt Carnes, Jeremiah Chaney, Tyler Hyden, Josh Hyden, Don Teal and Rex Chaney will serve as pallbearers.
Military Rites will be conducted by Grove Veterans Ritual Team.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to services at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Miami, OK.
Services have been placed in the care of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, OK.
