Golden Hyrum Anderson 78, lifelong resident of Grover, died on Oct 26, 1986 from complications following a massive heart attack Oct 21 at the Parkview Hospital in Idaho Falls, ID.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct 29 at the Grover Ward with Bishop Richard Valdee Kennington conducting. Burial followed in the Grover Cemetery.
Golden was born July 3, 1908 in Grover, the fifth of eight children to Ida Adell and John N. Anderson. He married Della Moser Anderson, the widow of his younger brother, Arthur, Nov. 1945. He was a rancher, cattleman, farmer and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holding several positions. He also was involved with the Cattlemen's Association and the Grover Canal Company. Golden always liked a good saddle horse and in 1934 became the first in Wyoming to own an Arabian Stallion.
He owned and operated land at Stump Creek, ID, property north of Afton and in Grover. From 1918 when his father acquired a Greys River grazing permit until he suffered a serious leg injury in 1979, Golden and brothers or hired help drove cattle to that range for summer feeding.
Golden raised Dell's daughters, Janice and Gwen as though they were his own.
Among his many attributes were his gentle way of communicating, his honesty and his generous offerings to those in need.
After a blood clot to his left eye and a minor stoke in 1984, Golden never felt stable or secure enough to attend to ranching and farming matters.
He is survived by his wife, Della, daughters Toni Earling, Grover, Janice Wray, Wilmington DL, Gwen Burns, Grover, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, brother, Delos, Afton and sisters Edna Turner and Pearl Hepworth both of Rexburg.
