Bristol, Va, Feb 8. - Mrs Malinda King Anderson, the venerable mother of Bristol, whose husband, the late Joseph R Anderson, founded Bristol in 1853, died at the family home on Anderson street, yesterday, after an illness of two weeks. Mrs Anderson was in her 87th year. She was a daughter of the Rev Jas King, a pioneer minister and educator, and founder of King College, and also founder of the First Presbyterian church here. Mrs Anderson spent her entire life in Bristol. The home of her father was the only one here at the time of her birth, and the post office name of Bristol in those days was Sappling Grove, the office being in the home of Mrs Anderson's father, who was then postmaster. The place afterwards became known as King's Meadows. Mrs Anderson's husband, who died twenty years ago, was the pioneer of business in Bristol.
