John L Bliss, 78, retired farmer, died April 29, 1986 at the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. Funeral services were held May 1, 1986 at the Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Chapel, Coldwater, with Gib Clark officiating. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery at Coldwater.
John Loran Bliss was born April 25, 1908, son of Frank and Amelia Knabe Bliss, near Coy, OK., in Woods County.
On January 24, 1931 he was united in marriage to Florence Hoffman at Greensburg. They moved to a farm six miles east of the present home and lived there for about a year, then moved to their present home where they continued living the remainder of his life. To this union were born four children, Ruby, J.L., Loretta and Richard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Florence, of the home; two sons, J.L. and Richard Bliss, both of Dalhart, TX.; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Ruby) Thompson of Freedom, OK., and Mrs. Richard (Loretta) Stone of Bucklin; four sisters, Maye Neukirch, Marie Lamb, Roberta Malone, and Mamie Brown, all of Coldwater; two brothers, Kenneth Bliss of Coldwater and Jack Bliss of Montrose, CO., one uncle, Joe Knabe, Woodward, OK., and one aunt, Mabel Converse, Kansas City; 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials have been established with Kiowa County Hospital in Greensburg.
