He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman Armstrong and Evelyn Sewell Armstrong.

Sherrill was an alumnus of Warrior High School. He served in the Unites States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged after serving for 5 years. Sherrill was a member of Skyline Drive Church of Christ. He retired from CSX/L&N Railroad after working for 20 years.

A Graveside service will be held at Cane Creek Cemetery, Warrior on Monday, August 10, 2020 beginning at 10 am. Gardendale Heritage Funeral Home directing.
