Isadore McCombs Dutson Christensen was born at Afton, Wyoming on February 15, 1896. When only a month old her mother returned to the ranch north of Grover where her husband and family were living.
She had a happy, carefree childhood roaming over the hills back of her home, picking wild flowers and fruit that grew abundantly there.
She loved to sing and her beautiful alto voice was heard in all of the auxiliaries of the word and in the ward choir. She was always willing to work in the ward. She was organist in the Sunday School, a Gleaner leader and Councilor in the M.I.A., teacher in the Primary and was active in ward dramatics.
She was a true friend and a kind and helpful neighbor to all her associates.
In June 1916 she married Angus Dutson and to them were born six children. The first two died before they were a year old. They struggled hard to make a home and rear a family but fate seemed against them for in November 1928 Angus contracted pneumonia and died leaving her with four children. The oldest, Myron, was 7 and the youngest, Ralph, was about 10 months. It was not an easy task to meet all the responsibilities that became hers but she met them with her chin up. She built her a home near her parents and sacrificed many of her own desires that Myron might develop his musical talent.
On October, 6 1935 she married Edward Christensen who shared her responsibility of caring for her children. But it seemed that life was not to be smooth for her for her son Myron was stricken with heart trouble. The care, patience, and devotion she gave him showed that her greatest talent was kind and loving motherhood. Myron was bedfast from July until November when he passed away.
About four years ago the family moved to Huntsville and later to Ogden, Utah. In that time the trials of sickness that have come to her would have broken the spirit of most people. Again faith and courage came to her. Ellen was hurt in a wreck and confined to the hospital for four months. Later Wendell had a broken leg. both she and Ed had operations and her son, Max was called to the Navy and at present is serving in the South Pacific. Through it all she bore it with a smile and by her side was Ed who has been a good husband and a kind father to her children. She passed away at the Dee Hospital at 12:10, May 2, 1945.
