Elisabeth "Lizzie" Clemmer married Johannes "John" Totherow her first cousin in Lincoln County, North Carolina in 1803. Louisa Clemmer married Jonathan Tutherow 28 March 1823 in Lincoln County, North Carolina.
Louisia Clemmer and Elisabeth Clemmer did not both marry Jonathan Totherow. Jonathan Totherow and John Tutherow were two different people.
Elisabeth Clemmer is the daughter of George Valentine Clemmer and Louisa Clemmer is the daughter of Ludwig Clemmer.
It has been passed down in the Clemmer family that Elisabeth was one of the five people who drowned by the capsizing of a boat or raft when crossing the Little Tennessee River, and that when she died there were three sons, David, Eli, & "Joe," and two daughters underage. It is possible that there was one other child underage. Of course, John and Elisabeth also had grown children by 1827. None of Elisabeth and John's children were born in Alabama.
