FUNERAL SERVICES HELD MONDAY
FOR CLARENCE BRANDON

Clarence O. Brandon, 74, lifelong resident of the Hatton community passed away Thursday January 11. He had been in ill health for some time. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, January 15 at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church with Pastor Charles Ellefson officiating.

Pallbearers were Maurice Smestad, Chester Offerdahl, Gilman Onstad, Myron Rydland, Carroll Rydland, Arthur Hanson, Martin Hanson Jr. and James Bjerke. Mrs. Clarence(Irma) Rydland was the organist and Otis Stendahl, soloist. Burial was in the Washington Prairie Church Cemetery.

Mr. Brandon was born September 27, 1893 in Newburgh Township near Hatton, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ole (Mary Bye) Brandon. He attended school and grew to manhood in this community. He also attended Aaker's Business College in Grand Forks.

On June 27, 1917 he was married to Esther Sander of Hatton. They farmed in Washington Township until 1964 when they retired. He continued to live on the home farm until he entered the Tri-County Home in Hatton where he had lived for about three years.

Mr. and Mrs. Brandon observed their Golden wedding anniversary on June 26, 1967 at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church.

He was a past director of the Hatton Cooperative Oil Co; served on the Grand Forks County West District Soil Conservation Committe; was a past Master of Garfield Masonic Lodge No. 105 AF & AM of Hatton; and served for 29 years as Treasurer of the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church of which he was a member. He had also been a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and the Kem Temple Shrine of Grand Forks. Mr. Brandon had recently been presented with a life membership in Garfield Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, a son Carsten of Hatton, six grand children; three brothers, Ernest and Arnold of Hatton and Lester of Larimore and a sister, Mrs. Selmer (Olga) Monson of East Grand Forks, one son, Henning passed away in August of 1966.
