Helen Joan ("Joey" "boss lady") Minyard was born in Hays, Kansas on June 23, 1950 and was the daughter of Glenn and Mary Martin.

Joey passed from this earth and through the gates of heaven on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11:14 PM at Stillwater Medical Center. Joey was 69 years old.

In Joey’s early years, she attended Sacred Heart Catholic School [Plainville, KS] from grades one through eight. After that Joey went to Great Bend Junior High for two years before moving to Oklahoma where she started high school in Moore in the late 1960s. Not long after Joey moved to Moore she met her lifelong bestie, Linda.

During high school Joey worked as a carhop. In her teenage years, Joey enjoyed going to the drive-in with Linda, sewing, and dancing.

When Joey was 17 or 18, she met the love of her life Jimmy Dale. Jimmy and Joey were married on January 3, 1969 at Saint Andrews Church in Moore, Oklahoma.

In 1970, Joey gave birth to her only son, Joseph Dale Minyard. Joey started working as a seamstress up until the death of her husband in 1975, when she moved to Yale. While in Yale, Joey started working at convenience stores in Hallet and Yale. In these years, Joey made another lifelong friend Bee. In the 1980’s, Joey started home health for about 10 years.

In the early 90’s, Joey hurt her back and retired. When she regained her health, she began managing a car wash in Cushing, Oklahoma. Joey loved hosting family events especially the Fourth of July and Christmas Eve. She was the boss.

Joey devoted her life to caregiving, loving everyone she met, and always making a new friend. Joey loved her nieces and nephews with a passion. Her son and grandson always came first, and she loved her family. Joey was a Christian and a member of the Yale Assembly of God Church in Yale, Oklahoma.

Joey was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Martin, father, Glenn Martin, two sisters Gerry Miller and Glenda Endicott; two brothers, Marty Martin and Bill Savory and one niece, Lindsey Ann Martin.

Joey is survived by her son Joe and her grandson Jordan of Yale Oklahoma; one sister Joyce Garver and husband Neal of Yale Oklahoma; two brothers, Kenny Martin and wife Lori of Yale, Terry Martin and wife Denise of Glencoe;

four nieces, Faith Mahoney and husband Steven, Charity Ellis and husband Austin, Brianna Martin and Leah Martin all of Glencoe, Oklahoma; ten nephews, Billy Jackson and partner Shatana Bentley of Yale, Oklahoma, Bobby Miller and wife Erma of Yale, Oklahoma, Billy Savory and partner Misty Agee of Kiefer, Oklahoma, Danny Miller and wife Patti of Yale, Oklahoma, Wes Savory and partner Elizabeth Whittington of Yale, Oklahoma, Kyle Martin and wife Morgan of Jennings, Oklahoma, Josh Endicott of Yale, Oklahoma, Keegan Martin of Newton, Kansas, Logan Martin of Cushing, Oklahoma and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held for Joey on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Yale Assembly of God Church in Yale, Oklahoma at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
