Mrs. Malinda Simons dies as a result of a fall 12 weeks before.

Mrs. Malinda Simons, who sustained a severe fall about twelve weeks ago which resulted in a broken hip passed away Sunday, her death being indirectly due to the accident.

Malinda Snethen Simons was born in Miami County, Ohio, on Feb. 24, 1837, and died April 11, 1920, aged 83 years 1 month and 11 days. She moved with her parents (Rev. William and Elizabeth Thomas Snethen) from Ohio to Indiana while a small child, settling near Logansport, where she remained until three years ago when she came to the home of her son Wm. J. Simons at Jonesboro, where she resided until death took her away. In 1858 she was married to Abraham Simons. To this union was born ten children, eight of whom with her husband preceded her in death.

Mrs. Simons united with the English Lutheran church in 1901, of which church she remained a member until death. The deceased was of a loving and 'cheerful' disposition, and while the last twelve weeks were full of intense suffering she often sang and prayed, and was always patient and thoughtful of those around her.

She is survived by her two sons, Frank F., of Gas City and Wm. J., of Jonesboro; 18 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren, also many other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were conducted at the residence by Rev. Glenn Appleman on Monday evening at 7:30. Early Tuesday morning the remains were taken to Logansport, where interment was made in the St. John cemetery at that place. (Unknown newspaper)

All of the children of Melinda and her husband Abraham (10 children) have been accounted for except two of them. It has been suggested that there was a son named Evan. The tenth child is unknown and probably died young. It is possible that the son of Abraham and Naomi named Lenard was counted as one of the 10 since he was taken care of by Melinda after Naomi passed away.
