Former Anchorage resident REIKO ADDINGTON-FORBES, 70, died Jan. 23, 2003, at St. Francis Extended Health Care Facility in Bellingham, Wash., of Alzheimer's disease. A memorial service was held Jan. 25 at Grace Baptist Church in Lynden, Wash.
Mrs. Addington-Forbes was born April 18, 1932, in Sendai, Japan. She married James Addington in 1956. They had four children and moved to Anchorage in 1965. James died in 1985. She left Anchorage in 1986. In 1987, she married Floyd Forbes. ''Reiko was a wonderful wife to our father,'' his family wrote. ''She was a selfless, loving, caring, devoted wife who loved Jesus. She brought love and joy and will be greatly missed. Reiko is set free from her long bout with Alzheimer's and is resting in her heavenly home where there is no more pain or suffering.'' Her own children wrote: ''Our mother's strength, dignity, courage and hard work will stand as an everlasting testament to us and to all whose lives she touched. No matter how difficult life was or how little we had, she always managed through her resourcefulness to provide us with the essential things. Though Mom suffered greatly in life, particularly in her final years, she was blessed by the love and devotion of two husbands and the love of many children, grandchildren and friends.''
