Funeral Services for State Department Employe Will Be Held Tomorrow
Miss Rosa VIrginia Sands, 50, for nearly 20 years a research clerk in the State Department, died yesterday of a heart attack at her home, 2023 Hillyer place NW.
Miss Sands, daughter of the late Rear Admiral James Hoban Sands, was born in Brooklyn, NY while her father was stationed at the Navy Yard there.
She was attached to the office of the historical adviser in the State Department and specialized in treaty research. During the World War she served with the Military Intelligence Service. At one time she operated a school bearing her name in the 1700 block of M street, NW.
Surviving are two brothers, William Franklin Sands and Henry Meade Sands, both of this city, and three sisters, Mother Clara Sands and Mother Hilda Sands of the Order of the Sacred Heart, both of Philadelphia, and Mrs Charles N Harris, this city.
St Matthew's Catholic Church... Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
