Gerald J. "Goat" Maynard, Sr., 60, died Friday, October 27, 2006 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Abshire Maynard of Crowley; three daughters, Angelique "Ma-Ma" Maynard of Crowley, Danielle M. Melancon of Estherwood, Kellie M. Roy of Egan; four sons, Gerald J. Maynard, Jr. of Rio, WI, Dominic Maynard of Jennings, Dallas Maynard of Lake Arthur and Joshua Maynard of Estherwood; two sisters, Mary Phillips of Crowley and Margaret Maynard both of Crowley; five brothers, Larry Maynard of Crowley, Robert Maynard of Morse, Johnny Maynard of Thibodaux, Chris Maynard of Crowley and Billy Maynard of Crowley; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Maynard was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Ann Maynard; his parents, Cleveland and Margaret Weber Maynard; one sister, "Gal" Matthews.

Mr. Maynard was the shop foreman for the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Dept. for twenty years. The joy of his life was his family, fishing and cards.
