Roy N. Archer Dies Following Brief Illness

Roy N. Archer, 66, 2814 Camden Av., a retired 32 year employee of American Viscose FMC Corp., died Saturday evening in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Parkersburg, he was a son of the late Thomas C. and Mary McClain Archer. He was a member of Sharon Lodge No. 28, Paran Encampment No. 3, Miriam Rebekah Lodge No. 1, and was a past noble grand of IOOF Lodge 28 and past commander of the Parkersburg chapter of the Legion of Guardsmen. In 1936 he helped to organize TWUA Local No. 9. He was also a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Schultz Archer; one daughter, Marilyn Sue Mott of Escondido, Calif.; one son, Roy (Pat) Archer of Escondido; one sister, Nellie Amos of Parkersburg; three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Leavitt Funeral Home with the Rev. L. R. Mahoney officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today, where IOOF memorial services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
