Last rites are held April 2 for James Cross

Funeral services for James Cleveland Cross, retired farmer, were held April 2 at 4 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel.

Officiating were Rev. W. M. Hull, Jr. and William Garner. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, Oliver in charge.

Mr. Cross, who was 70 years old, died April 1 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, after an extended illness. He was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle Church at Winona and was a native of this county.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Claudie Ray Cross, Winona; three sons, Albert L Cross, St. Joseph, Missouri; James Alvin Cross, Houston, Texas; and Elwin Cross, Winona; five daughters, Mrs. Alva Alldread, Greenwood; Mrs. Evelyn Nail and Mrs. Agnes Lishman, both of Winona and Mrs. Mary Alice McMullin and Mrs. Alvinenell Beach, both of Memphis. He had 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were F. 0. Alldread, James Osborn, William Vaughan, Aubrey Nail, Tommy Wayne Burton, Thomas Mills, Sr., and Coy Nail.
