Ernie was born on December 15, 1939 to Earl and Charlotte (Burch) Moore in Westwood, California. He attended school in Akeley. After graduating in 1958, he joined the US Army where he worked in communications and was later honorably discharged. He married Laura Jean Warnke in 1964 in Walker, MN. Ernest worked for AT&T for 30 years. The family lived in Little Falls, MN during his working years. He and his family returned to Akeley after his retirement.
Ernie enjoyed woodworking, fishing, duck hunting, deer hunting, sudoku, cross word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and gardening. He loved everything about nature. He enjoyed feeding the birds and deer at his home every morning. Ernie was kind, gentle, and generous and a good father. He was a member of the Akeley VFW and the American Legion. He had previously been a member of the Moose Lodge in Little Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Milton Moore, Howard Moore, Dale Moore; sisters Lois Meier and Lana Sheets and his beloved dog Buddy.
Memorial Services were held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Nevis, MN. Officiant was the Rev. Megan Crouch from Grand Rapids, MN. Burial followed at the Akeley Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Star of the North Marine Corps Honors Team with Ray Vaadeland playing taps.
