James “Jim” Aubrey Moore, 88, of Akeley, MN died on Friday, August 30, 2019 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Akeley, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 5 until 7 PM at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Nevis, MN. Visitation will be also be held for one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Interment will be held at the Akeley City Cemetery in Akeley, MN. James “Jim” Aubrey Moore, 88, of Akeley, MN, died on Friday, August 30, 2019 at his home.

Jim was born August 12, 1931 to Earl and Charlotte (Burch) Moore in Chester, Montana. At an early age he moved with his family to Akeley where he attended school.

He joined the United States Army in 1952 and was stationed in France during the Korean War.

On November 27, 1955 Jim married Margaret Nauber in Akeley, MN. Together they raised four children. He worked at Ah-Gwah-Ching in Walker, MN, owned his own service station in Akeley, and was Head of Maintenance at the Akeley School from where he retired.

Jim was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran of Akeley, a life member of both the American Legion and VFW, and was a Boy Scouts of America leader. He started the Boy Scout program in Akeley and helped raise money to build the Akeley VFW. Jim always wore a fedora hat. He loved to fish, hunt, and enjoyed driving around town and country roads. He always had candy in his pocket and loved to treat his grandchildren or any child he met. A man of many skills, he built the home where he currently lived.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret; children David, Janine (David) Pease, and Donald (Donna); 12 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Charlotte; son, Daniel; brothers, Milton, Howard, Ernie and Dale; and sisters, Lois and Lana.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 1:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Akeley, MN with Pastor Harvey Kietzman officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2019 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM and also on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at the Akeley City Cemetery in Akeley, MN. Military Honors will be provided by the Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post 212. Friends may leave online condolences at ceasefuneralhome.com.
