Tillie was the daughter of David B. and Sarah Ann (Girton) Wagner. She was born in in Hemlock Township in Columbia County, Pennsylvania. On January 3, 1870, she married William Boyd Mericle. They lived in Madison Township and had five children: 2 sons and three daughters: (1) Sadie, (2) 'Nora,' (3) David, (4) Hannah, and (5) Charles. Two of the daughters, Nora and Hannah, died young in 1880. Tillie was widowed in 1912. She lived to age 85.
Although, cemetery records list her death year as 1929, her death certificate indicates that she died in 1928.
