Helen (Peters) Epp, 101, homemaker, died Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) in Hillsboro.
She was born March 7, 1900, to Gerhard Penner and Helena (Hiebert) Peters in Grover City, Calif. They preceded her in death. She married August "Steve" Epp June 6, 1922, in Lehigh. He preceded her in death April 26, 1985.
She was a homemaker and her husband worked at Midland National Bank for 20 years and then became an insurance salesman for Penn Mutual until his death. She enjoyed the years Steve spent in the insurance business and would accompany him at work, reading while he visited with people.
Survivors include: a daughter, Marna Tiesler of Newton; a sister, Marie Anne Becker of Blackwell, Okla.; a brother, James H. Peters of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by: a daughter, Zelda Valerian (Epp) Wedel; a grandson, Erik Tiesler; five brothers, George P. Peters, Willard Peters, Herbert Peters, Theodore Peters and Edison Peters; and a sister, Hulda Peters Janzen.
Graveside service was Thursday in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial service was Thursday at Bethel College Mennonite Church.
Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and Bethel College Mennonite Church, both in care of Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar, P.O. Box 242, Valley Center, KS 67147.
