Believe he was named Zedekiah or Zedric Walter Leatherwood. Almost every document refers to him as Z.W. He was the son of Paul C. Leatherwood and Permelia Nabors. He was born in Shelby Co. or Lowndes Co. AL. His family is in Shelby Co. AL in 1850 and just disappears after that date. Z.W. came to TX about 1861. Z.W. and Susan married on 20 Jan. 1870 in Hunt Co. TX. In 1870 census he is a newlywed with Susan in Harrison Co. TX, living next door to her older brother W.H. Pitts.
His son's (Robert Virgle Leatherwood) death certificate says that his father's name was Zadric Walter Leatherwood.
Oldest daughter Permelia Eveline Leatherwood married Jesse T. Sweeden. She passed on 21 March 1930 and is supposed to be buried in Proctor, Comanche Co. TX.
ZW was my 2nd great-grandfather.
