She attended a one-room country school half a mile from her house. After she graduated from Frazee High School in 1957, she moved to Cohasset, MN to live with her sister Katie and brother-in-law Wayne.
She worked at the Kramer’s snack counter for a year, after which she became the manager of the snack counter. That’s where she met Maynard, who she married in 1961. Through the years she had the occasional job, such as working at Sunset Point Resort, baking and decorating cakes, but mostly she was a homemaker extraordinaire.
She liked to knit, crochet, and sew, often sewing clothes for her four children when they were young. She loved baking. Almost every summer, she entered her baked goods in the Itasca County Fair and many times was the winner of the most blue ribbons. She was generous in sharing her baking with her grown children and church family.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her sweet, gentle spirit was appreciated by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orin and Lena Jacobson; sisters, Katie, Alice, and Arlene; brothers, Chesley and George; and her son, Keith.
Claire is survived by her husband, Maynard Tinquist; children: DeAnn (Bill) Benson, Doug (Stephanie) Tinquist, Tina (Brian) Helmuth; brother, Morris Jacobson; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at Wildwood Cemetery, Cohasset, MN.
