He was at home in Taylor Co., WV, on Sept. 9, 1863, but went back to war and the last record of him in the Confederate army was on June 30, 1864. He either died of his previous wounds, or was killed in action after this date. His burial site is unknown. Several documents prove that he was the son of Stephen Poe and Mary Rogers and the husband of Susan Thomas and had a daughter, Celia Poe, before he died.
