DEATH OF MR DAVID SETON OF MOUNIE
The death is announced in Edinburgh of Mr david Seton of Mounie, Oldmeldrum, an Aberdeenshire proprietor and the representative of an old county family. The second son of Major Seton of Mounie, and a descendant of the first Seton of Pitmedden, the deceased adopted a military career, and was for many years an officer in the 93rd Highlanders and 49th Regiment. He succeeded to the estate on the death of his brother, Colonel Seton, who was commander of the troops on board the ill-fated ship Birkenhead, which was lost with all hands near the Cape of Good Hope on the 26th February 1852. The nature of his profession prevented Mr Seton visiting his Aberdeenshire property frequently.
