WHITE, Mamie of Thorndale. Age 44. Died 1/3/1985 (Thursday) when a 12 gauge shot gun was fired into the face of the widowed mother and grandmother, while she was working as night attendant at Circle K convenience store in Thorndale. The small amount of money in the cash drawer was not disturbed. 2 Taylor hunters stopped at the store around 5 a.m., discovered the body and notified the police.

Services held (Sat.) at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel in Rockdale. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, Rockdale. Rev. D.D. Simpson officiated. She was a native of Giddings, but a longtime resident of Rockdale and Thorndale for the past 6 years. Member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale. She was the widow of the former Rockdale police chief, Truman White. She had 4 grown children, a 10-year old son and 4 grandchildren.

SURVIVORS: Mother, Thelma Widner of Thorndale; 3 sons, David White of Taylor, Truman White, Jr. of Mineola and Russell White of Thorndale; 2 daughters, Louise Jonas and JoAnn White of Thorndale; step-son, Billy White of Mineola; 3 brothers, Kenneth Andrews of Milano, Clifford Andrews of Emory and Johnny Andrews of Cameron; 5 half-brothers, Thomas Bird of Emory, J.W. Bird of Oklahoma, Haskel Andrews of Dickinson, Robert Andrews of Arkansas, and Julius Widner of Thorndale; 3 step-sisters, Martha Hopson of Taylor, Annie Tredway of Denison and Margaret Draper of Cameron; 2 step-brothers, Robert Widner of Dallas and James Widner of Denison; 3 grandchildren.
