O’Neil Chestnut, “Big O” age. 84, died Wednesday, June 24, 2020. He was born January 16, 1936 in Hawley, OK to Alfred and Margaret (Dark) Chestnut. He was a 1954 graduate of Nash High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva. He married the love of his life Nita (York) January 8, 1955. He was a teacher and coach prior to moving to Mustang in 1973, where he was the transportation director for Mustang Public Schools. He and his family attended church at The Bridge Assembly of God. He loved to fish and watch sporting events, especially those that his kids, grandkids and great grandkids were participating in. Big O was preceded in death by his wife Nita (York) in 2014, his parents and two brothers: Clifton and wife Barbara and Jim. He is survived by his two daughters, Anita Rae and husband Tommy Emmons, of Mustang, Deanna and husband Larry Ashpaugh, of Ft. Cobb, three sons, Terry and wife Fran, of Mustang, Troy and wife Melissa of Tulsa, and Craig and wife Shannon of Mustang. He had eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers family has asked that contributions be made to The Mustang Public Schools Athletic Department. Graveside Services will be 10:00am Friday, June 26, 2020 at the Mustang Cemetery, Mustang, Oklahoma.
