There is no headstone. After Bernard died, his wife, Margaret cashed in a life insurance policy to buy the stone.
She put down a down payment for it and was to finish paying it when it was installed. Margaret was living with Joseph at the time.
Before she could make the payment, the house burned down with the money still inside.
Margaret was burned while trying to get the money from the burning house and had to be held back so she wouldn't try to go back in again.
The stone was said to be beautiful with their picture under glass. After Margaret could no longer pay for the stone, it was removed for non-payment.
Told by Janet Reller, daughter of Norbert Reller, who was the son of Mary Ahrens & Frank Reller.
