Arlie J. Brown, 76, of Powderly died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at his home at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received him into their care. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at Forest Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at the funeral home. He was born July 7, 1926, in Hugo, Okla., the son of George Henry and Addie Lee Annette Brown. He married Eloise Frazier on Jan. 24, 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and retired from McDermott after 27 years of service to the company. Following his retirement, he did lawn mower and small engine repair for 15 years. He came from a musical family where he and his brothers would sing and play guitar, later forming a band. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise, on Feb. 7, 1991; and four brothers, Paul, Raymond, George and Carl Brown. Survivors include three children, Janice Wright and husband, Clinton, of LaCombe, La., Sherry Brown of Powderly and Jay Brown of Powderly; four grandchildren, Troy Haddad of Montgomery, Ala., Alison Anderson of Bowling Green, Ky., Kristin Hebert of Bayou Blue, La. and Jamie Goin of Houma, La.; one great-grandchild; one sister, Virginia Marable of Virginia; and one brother, Edgar Brown of Forest Chapel. Casket bearers will be Mark Brown, Gregg Brown, Ronald Brown, Ricky Brown, Keithen Brown and Kris Kelly.
